At Moody Center, Bruce Springsteen blended music with pointed criticism of President Donald Trump.
Bruce Springsteen returned to the Sunshine State last week for a concert in Sunrise as part of his “Land of Hope and Dreams” tour. For nearly three hours, he performed many of his old hits as well as a new one protesting the ICE crackdown in Minneapolis.
Bruce Springsteen’s “Jungleland” has been ranked No. 298 in Rolling Stone’s “500 Greatest Songs of All Time.” The recognition brings renewed attention to one of the most ambitious rock songs of the 1970s.
Along with The E Street Band, he brought the Land of Hope and Dreams Tour to South Florida for a rousing night of iconic American rock ’n’ roll and unrestrained political protest at Amerant Bank Arena.
On “Two Hearts,” Steven Van Zandt stepped forward on vocals alongside Bruce, adding a celebratory lift to the performance. Their shared vocals, especially through the “It Takes Two” ending, gave the song a loose, joyful energy that contrasted with some of the heavier moments in the set.
A hometown news outlet accused Bruce Springsteen of hypocritically profiteering off expensive anti-Trump concerts while posing as a populist rocker.
