Here we look at European beech (Fagus sylvatica), a commonly planted tree in the Eastern US. European beech is much more commonly planted than the native American beech (Fagus grandifolia), which predominates in many forests of the Eastern US. Both, unfortunately succumb to beech leaf disease (BLD), but more on that, later.
