One of my favorite indicator accessories is the Starrett No. 670 ID Attachment. For my personal style it’s the quickest and easiest way to true up a bore in the 4 jaw chuck. Accurately measuring the bore using my Starrett No. S229 telescoping gage and No. 439 mic. The bronze bushing that presses in measured 2.2525-2.2530 so I was shooting for a target size of 2.250. Telescope gages are very accurate tools when used correctly. It takes time to learn the proper techniques for adjusting them in a bore and for the “feel” when measuring over them. I common misconception people make is that the ends of the gages are flat when in fact they have radii to match the bore size
